Hit a giant piñata via my computer? Ok!
While at creative agency Host, fellow Art Director Juca Lopes and I created a project that combined Facebook, streaming video, a giant Vodafone piñata and a robot named Carlos that liked to swing. The goal of the project was to entertain the Vodafone Facebook audience and give away prizes.
Via a Facebook App fans could control Carlos the robot and have a swing at the power pinata. At various times during the campaign we upped the intensity of the swing and asked the users for what tool Carlos should hit with (the axe was a favourite). After 2 weeks the Vodafone Facebook fan page had gained an extra 8000 fans and feedback on the page showed that users really enjoyed using the app. When the piñata broke fans scrambled to pick up one of 500 prizes including Galaxy Tabs, mexican wrestling masks as well as music and flight vouchers.
